Tamworth Park : A Recreation Area with wilder parts

The eastern end of the park has longer areas of grass, various shrubs, and a pond. This was originally stocked in 1991 with help from the Portsmouth Urban Wildlife Group (now Hampshire Wildlife Trust, Portsmouth District Group). This area was originally a marshy creek leading into Langstone Harbour. The first phase of reclamation was about 200 years ago, when a sea wall was built approximately where Eastern Road is now. Milton Common was created about 40 years ago, leaving this area over 1km from the sea.

Pond weeds were planted

and chucking it in.
The pond in October 2005. A pair of grey wagtails were flitting between the bushes and the platform. The water level seemed well up, in spite of recent drought.
